Barry Streek was a founder director of Ditikeni. He made a large and enthusiastic contribution on the board – he was indeed a large and enthusiastic man in every way! He was honoured, shortly before his death, by the re-naming of 19 Loop Street – headquarters of Ditikeni shareholder Social Change Assistance Trust in Cape Town – as Barry Streek House. But his real monument remains in the life of the organisations like these to which he devoted so much passion. His life-long commitment to empowering the poor and powerless was practical and Ditikeni was lucky to have his support.
