2020 Annual Report

The artwork for the 2020 Ditikeni Annual Report is a mixed media piece – paint, pastels and bitumen – by Percyval Madia, titled Emerging Giants. He says: “I used the cows moving forward to symbolise the consistent support and sustainability that Ditikeni has provided to communities. This has led to the emergence of giants within these communities, equipped with knowledge and skills that will live with them for eternity. The green colour symbolises the success of planting and reaping the fruit that Ditikeni has ploughed. Through Ditikeni’s

efforts, there is life in the communities.” Percyval studied at the Funda Centre in Diepkloof, Soweto and later at Artist Proof Studio and Wits Technikon in Johannesburg. He has been involved in a variety of projects including art workshops and training, and is a school arts educator.
